Bao Changjun, member of the novel coronavirus control expert team of Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission and Director of the Acute Infectious Disease Institute, answered questions of public concern during an interview with media on the morning of February 2. Below are excerpts from the interview:

Between 00:00 and 24:00, February 1, 34 more cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Jiangsu, 7 in Nanjing, 6 in Wuxi, 7 in Xuzhou, 1 in Changzhou, 4 in Suzhou, 5 in Nantong, 1 in Huai’an, 2 in Yancheng, and 1 in Zhenjiang. 1 case of patient was cured and discharged from hospital.

On January 20, the National Health Commission issued its No. 1 public notice, which included pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus in the list of category B infectious diseases specified by the Law on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases of the People’s Republic of China and took prevention and control measures for category A infectious diseases against the epidemic. Currently, there are 28 designated hospitals for the treatment of the epidemic and 541 medical institutions with fever clinics in total across Jiangsu. Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission kindly reminds those with fever and respiratory infection symptoms, persistent fever in particular, to seek treatment in the following medical institutions in a timely manner.

According to the official release of Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission on February 1, 34 more cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus were confirmed in Jiangsu on January 31, 3 in Nanjing, 1 in Wuxi, 3 in Xuzhou, 1 in Changzhou, 2 in Suzhou, 2 in Nantong, 4 in Lianyungang, 2 in Huai’an, 5 in Yancheng, 5 in Yangzhou, 5 in Taizhou, and 1 in Suqian. Three cases were cured and discharged.
